According to the World Gold Council, the Philharmonic coin is the most sold in the world in 1992, 1995, 1996, and 2000. It was designed by Austria's chief engraver, Thomas Pesendorfer, and features a design that celebrates the musical culture of Vienna. The reverse side is designed with eight orchestral instruments: four violins, a cello, the Viennese horn, the bassoon, and the harp. The obverse design features the famous pipe organ from the Goldener Saal of the Viennese Musikverein, notably seen in Vienna's annual Philharmonic New Year concerts.

Key Features:

- Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.

- Each coin has a face value of 100 Euros.

- Official gold bullion coin of Austria.

Design:

Obverse: Displays the Musikverein Great Organ in the Golden Hall where the Philharmonic Orchestra performs. Inscriptions: “REPUBLIK OSTERREICH”, “100 EURO”, “ 1 UNZE GOLD”, “999.9”, and the year of mintage.

Reverse: Features a display of the more common instruments in the orchestra. The collection includes a cello, four violins, harp, bassoon, and French horn. Inscriptions: “WIENER PHILHARMONIKER” above the instruments.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is the spot price of precious metals?

The spot price for precious metals is the current price in the marketplace at which a given asset can be bought or sold for immediate delivery.

2. What is the difference between a 'round' and a 'coin'?

Gold, silver, and platinum "coins" are minted by a sovereign government, have a minimum face value, and are legal tender. Precious metal "rounds" are minted by private mints, have no face value, and generally have a lower premium than coins.

3. What is the bid price of precious metals?

The bid price is the highest price a buyer will pay, in this case for gold, silver or platinum. The ask price refers to the lowest price a seller will accept for the precious metal. The difference between these two is known as the spread. So the smaller the spread means the greater the liquidity.

As the official sovereign mint of the Austrian government, the Austrian Mint is among the limited number of mints in Europe with the authorization to mint Euros for the common currency zone of the European Union.
